What is the true meaning of Christmas? Rushing to the mall, finding the right presents, choral concerts, egg nog with neighbors, decorating the house visitors are coming – so much to do and so little time!
With all the stress of the busy-ness of the season it’s easy to forget the real heart of the holiday – spending time with friends and family.
Bursting with all your favorite Christmas songs, I’ll Be Home For Christmas is traditional, family friendly entertainment for all ages. Written by David Edwards – Director of this season’s smash hit South Pacific – and Tony Javed.
Thursday, December 10th – Sunday, December 20th. Matinee and evening performances.

Amy Buckley (Sandy) is delighted to be returning to the Ivoryton Playhouse after appearing in their spring production of The Bully. Most recently Amy played the role of Mrs. Banks in Artful Living’s production of Mary Poppins. Amy received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Connecticut, where her study afforded her the opportunity to train at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She then went on to receive a Master of Music from the celebrated Juilliard School. Currently Amy resides in Westbrook, CT, where she teaches private voice and piano lessons.
Avital Goldberg Curran (Avital) is a sixth-grader at Pine Point School who plays violin, sings in the choir, and is currently in rehearsals for the school performance of The Lion King. She is thrilled to be returning to Ivoryton for I’ll be Home for Christmas! Many thanks to Jacqui, David, and Beverley for this wonderful opportunity! Some favorite past credits include, last summer’s Ivoryton Playhouse production of South Pacific, the Mitchell College production of The Wizard of Oz, Groton Regional Theater’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Rapunzel in Missoula Theater’s Rapunzel. Avital would like to thank her family and friends for their continued love and support.
Peter Garibaldi (Brian) is an Essex resident rrecently graduated from UConn. Peter is thrilled to be in his first Ivoryton Playhouse production.
Mark Gilchrist (Larry) is truly excited to be appearing in his first production at the Ivoryton Playhouse. Most recently he appeared locally in Mary Poppins (George Banks), The Producers (Max Bialystock), The Sound of Music (Captain von Trapp), Annie (Daddy Warbucks), A Funny Thing Happened…Forum (Marcus Lycus) and The 25th Annual…Spelling Bee (vice principal Panch). Regional credits include West Side Story, Shenandoah, The Music Man, Godspell, The Fantasticks and On Shiloh Hill at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. Thanks to his family for their love and support.
Michael Hotkowski (Michael) is excited to return to his second holiday season at the Ivoryton Playhouse. A Vancouver Film School Alumni, his past stage and screen work includes Brett Cornell, The Speckled Band as Watson, The Bully, I’m Connecticut and Comedy is Hard. He wishes a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Kinetic Kwanzaa, and a Fantastic Festivus.
Melissa McLean (Nana) is overjoyed to return to Ivoryton, having previously appeared in All Shook Up (Mayor Matilda), Footloose (Lulu), Hairspray (Prudy Pingleton/Matron/Gym teacher, Joseph…., Forum (Gymnasia), Lettuce and Lovage (Miss Framer), Lost in Yonkers (Aunt Gert), The Robber Bridegroom. Chester’s Meeting House Players: Crimes of the Heart, Earth and Sky, The Glass Menagerie, Picnic, A…My Name is Alice. Hartford’s Producing Guild: Heartbeats, Shmulnik’s Waltz, Bermuda Avenue Triangle, Other People’s Money, Jerry’s Girls. Melissa holds a BFA from UConn. As always, love to Jeff, and to her adorable sons, Ian and Caleb.
Morgan Pill (Sara) is very excited to be making her Ivoryton Playhouse debut in I’ll Be Home For Christmas. Morgan has been involved in several local theater productions including Cats, High School Musical, and Xanadu. Morgan has been dancing since the age of 3 and for the last 6 years has been a member of the competitive dance team Back Stage Dance Center in Killingworth, CT. She also studies piano with the Community Music School in Centerbrook, CT. Morgan is currently in 8th grade at Westbrook Middle School.
Jenna Rapisarda is so thankful to be returning to the Ivoryton Playhouse after performing in South Pacific and Memphis this summer! She is a rising senior at The Hartt School, studying Musical Theatre. She would like to thank all the wonderful human beings involved in this production for their hard work, as well as her family near and far who have shown constant, unconditional love and support. A special shout out to her classmates and teachers at Hartt! Enjoy the show!
Elizabeth Swan (Jennifer) is delighted to return to The Ivoryton Playhouse stage after appearing as Meg in The Bully earlier this year. She recently performed as Quince in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at ARTFARM and as Katherine in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde at The Winnipesaukee Playhouse. Carson Waldron (L.J.) is thrilled to be returning to the Ivortyon stage! He has appeared in Oliver, The Seven Year Itch, Home for the Holidays, A Childs Christmas in Wales and The Bells of Dublin. Carson studies voice with Carly Callahan of Carly Callahan Studio of Voice in Madison, CT. He is currently in 8th Grade at Westbrook Middle School.

Ivoryton: The Ivoryton Playhouse Holiday show opens on December 10th and runs until December 20th. I’ll Be Home For Christmas is a holiday potpourri of songs and carols and Christmas fun. What happens when we lose the true meaning of Christmas and spend our precious holiday time shopping and worrying? Come spend a little time with the Evans family as they prepare for the holiday season – decorating the house, rushing to the mall, wrapping presents, racing to school concerts and trying to squeeze in egg nog with neighbors – so much to do and so little time!
Bursting with all your favorite Christmas songs – and a couple of new ones! – I’ll Be Home For Christmas is traditional, family friendly entertainment for all ages. Written and directed by David Edwards, with Tony Javed, this show is an antidote to cynicism and a love letter to good old fashioned Christmas fun. Musical Director is Luke McGinnis and the cast includes Amy Buckley, Peter Garibaldi, Mark Gilchrist, Avital Goldberg-Curran, Michael Hotkowski, Melissa McLean, Morgan Pill, Jenna Rapisarda, Elizabeth Swan and Carson Waldron. Set design by Dan Nischan, lighting design by Marcus Abbott and costumes by Vickie Blake.

I’ll Be Home For Christmas opens on Thursday, December 10th and runs thru December 20th for 2 weeks. Performance times are Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2pm. Evening performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm.There is also a Wednesday matinee on December 16th. Tickets are $32 for adults, $30 for seniors, $20 for students and $15 for children and are available by calling the Playhouse box office at 860-767-7318 or by visiting our website at www.ivorytonplayhouse.org (Group rates are available by calling the box office for information.) The Playhouse is located at 103 Main Street in Ivoryton.
