Barefoot in the Park Director, Bruce Connelly writes…
“I have the great good fortune to be working with Kathleen Mulready and Sean Patrick Hopkins as Corie and Paul Bratter in Barefoot in the Park, and in Act 3, Corie has to set her own table with a plate, fork, napkin, bud vase, candle, glass of water, a pot of goulash and eventually a cake and then strike it all bit by bit to the kitchen. Trying to expedite it, Kathleen wondered if she could strike the plate setting and the cake at the same time, and so the next time we ran it, I agreed we should try it, all of us forgetting until she did, that Paul leaps up to eat her dinner while she’s in the kitchen normally striking the cake, and gets back to the sofa before she can catch him. Well, Sean ran over to eat the dinner….it was gone….so in the seconds he had before she returned, he removed the rose from the bud vase on her table and drank the water from the vase instead!
Come see the show and you will laugh as hard as I do in rehearsal!”
