The cast for The Irish..and How They Got That Way have moved from Rehearsal Room to Theatre Stage.  This is an exciting time for any production.  Actors learn their marks, the finishing touches are made to sets, sound, lighting and props all carefully start to fall into place.  The Playhouse is an awesome place to see live theatre and The Irish is a great show.   St. Patty’s day is next week – treat your favorite leprechaun to some tickets to come and see the show!

The Ivoryton Playhouse is proudly celebrating two centennial birthdays this year!  Not only is the Playhouse celebrating a century on stage, but today we recognize a century of achievements by the women who have played a part in shaping our past.

 International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.  Suffragettes campaigned for women’s right to vote. The word ‘Suffragette’ is derived from the word “suffrage” meaning the right to vote. International Women’s Day honors the work of the Suffragettes, celebrates women’s success, and reminds of inequities still to be redressed. The first International Women’s Day event was run in 1911. 2011 is the Global Centenary Year.

The Ivoryton Playhouse thanks the strong women whose shoulders the continuing success of the Playhouse rests upon.  Your contributions have been, and forever shall be appreciated.  Here is to another 100 years of strong women and the arts!

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when you walk into the office and start to hear the most amazing harmony of voices singing a vast array of songs – from Danny Boy to I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.  Was that a traditional Christmas carol that I just heard?   Yes, rehearsals for The Irish and How They Got That Way have started and it features a great cast of extremely talented actors who can really sing.  I mean SING!!!  They are a cohesive and happy little group, friendly and warm – they are all honored to be starring in a production at the Ivoryton Playhouse in it’s Centennial Season and we know our audiences will be delighted with this show.  Don’t miss it.  Irish opens next Wednesday, March 16th.
