LOOKING FOR:

Ida Sage / Moma (Mow-Maw)  – 65 or older.  Backbone of the group and staunch supporter of segregation.  Mother of Hubie-George Jr..  A simple, yet powerful, woman with two distinctly different faces.  “The Queens” are her pride.

Faith Carlyle – 45ish.  Southern born and bred in Celestial – part of Ida’s circle of friends.  She shares her husband’s involvement and has an easy, somewhat laid back way about her.

Martha Nell Sage – barely 21.  Sold to be Hubie-George’s wife at the age of 16.  Vulnerable, thin, lonely, and gentle

Ophelia Barnett / Fifi – late 50’s.  An enthusiastic lifetime member.  Full of put on airs and gossip.  Unloved and unnoticed by her husband.

Jean Mooney – 40ish.  An unexpectedly  complicated woman, well-hidden beneath a gruff, wise-cracking exterior.  Raised in Celestial and the ways of the “fiery cross.”

Kathy (Two) Boggs – 18ish.  Cheerleader enthusiastic, constantly pregnant child bride of the mayor’s son.  Anxious to be accepted by Celestial’s grown-up world and leave her trailer park roots behind.

Rose Jackson – 25ish.  An Ohio Yankee, just married to a Celestial hometown boy after a whirlwind courtship.  A teacher by trade and passion, Rose is intelligent, kind, and good-hearted.
