2015 Summer Internships

Summer Internship Program

Summer Intern cast of Cucumber Phil

Our 2014 Summer Interns performed “Cucumber Phil” as part of our Summer Children’s Theatre series

The Ivoryton Playhouse Foundation is an historic, not for profit, 280-seat, professional theatre located on the Connecticut Shoreline. The Playhouse operates a year-round season, which includes eight main-stage productions, special events, educational programs and a Summer Children’s Theatre Series.

A summer internship at the Ivoryton Playhouse offers current undergraduate students and recent college graduates an exciting and intensive opportunity geared towards expanding and developing production skills, making professional contacts, and developing the insight and experience necessary to pursue a career in theatre.

Interns will work side by side with the staff in all areas of theatrical production. Depending on an intern’s experience and interest, there are opportunities to serve as a sound, wardrobe, electrics, scenic, or production intern.

Our 2013 interns helped with acting, production and with our summer children’s theatre

Opportunities will include assisting with set construction, hang and focus, special effects, prop acquisition and construction, costume acquisition and fittings, wardrobe, production management, stage management, one-week changeovers, building maintenance, children’s theatre, and running shows.

Internships run from May to September.

Candidates should have a strong desire to build experience in technical theatre or stage management.
