The Ivoryton Playhouse Foundation is an historic, not for profit, 280-seat, professional theater located on the Connecticut Shoreline. The Playhouse operates a year-round season, which includes eight main stage productions, educational programs, special events and a Summer Children’s Theater Series.
A summer internship at the Ivoryton Playhouse offers current undergraduate students and recent college graduates an exciting and intensive opportunity geared towards expanding and developing production skills, making professional contacts, and developing the insight and experience necessary to pursue a career in theater.
Interns will work side by side with the staff in all areas of theatrical production. Depending on a candidate’s experience and interest, there are opportunities to serve in many areas, such as; sound, wardrobe, electrics, scenic, and stage management.
Opportunities will include assisting with set construction, hang and focus, special effects, prop acquisition and construction, costume acquisition and fittings, wardrobe, production management, stage management, one-week changeovers, building maintenance, children’s theater, and show crew.
Internships run from May to September.
Candidates should have a strong desire to build experience in technical theatre or stage management.
